Newscaster a homebred of owners Ballylinch stud in Ireland made a winning debut under Cliff Lee. She is a daughter of Ballylinch's Make Believe and the first foal of Group Mary placed Newsletter, although not the biggest she showed plenty of heart and a good turn of foot to take the six furlong Novice in decisive fashion.
