Our fast start to 2020 continued today when Makthecat made a winning Flat race debut at Southwell in the mile novice event.

Mak is from a family we know well and having finished runner-up on his racecourse debut in a junior bumper at Huntingdon in November, made a smooth transition to Flat racing.

Travelling well turning in, Makthecat and Ben Curtis had a fantastic tussle with Tranchee all the way up the Southwell straight and at the line there was nothing to split them.

After a long deliberation by the judge, a dead-heat was announced by the judge sending everyone home happy.

We’d like to say a big well done to owners Hambleton Racing, who look to have a lovely prospect on their hands in Makthecat.
