Splendidly made a winning debut at Newcastle under a great ride from Ben Curtis. He was held up towards the rear, where he made headway halfway, he then tracked the leaders and squeezed through a furlong out to make headway entering the final furlong where he was soon ridden and quickend well to lead neat the finish and win by a neck.
